Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Priya Prakash and I am a PhD candidate in Chemical Biology at Purdue University. My research is focused on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in neuroinflammation and the role of microglial cells in neurodegenerative diseases. You can read more about my research here.
I created this blog when I was a Master’s student studying potassium ion channels and getting started with my scientific research career. This blog serves as an avenue to share my life experiences and write about my research interests. I grew up in Bangalore, India, and studied Biotechnology Engineering as an undergrad.
Besides being a curious lab rat, I am also passionate about photography, traveling, and reading. I have always been a creative individual and found new ways to express my ideas. Some of my personal projects from the past are:
- 2007-2014: I began my first blog Priceless Junk as a high school student and maintained it through my undergrad years
- 2010-2012: I founded START magazine: an independent online magazine dedicated to showcasing the works of young artists from India
- 2010-present: I discovered my passion for photography and created Moments in Time – a platform to share my photographs
Feel free to talk to me here or on twitter at @neuroimm. Cheers!
